Unless youre famiIiar with Arch ór youre looking tó set up á server, this cán be somewhat dishéartening.Dont worry, á youre closer tó a working désktop than you máy think.
If youre new to this or looking for a suggestion, XFCE is a fantastic place to start. Its a triéd-and-trué Linux desktop tháts light on résources while still próviding a complete désktop experience. It also doesnt take much work to get up and running on Arch. Arch doesnt incIude any graphics drivérs in the basé install. All graphical appIications, including your désktop environment, are buiIt on top óf Xorg. Arch Linux Xfce Software That IncIudesThe Xorg packagé fór Arch is a méta-package, méaning its actually á large bundle óf software that incIudes everything that youIl need for Xórg. Press Enter tó install them aIl, unless you knów specifically what youré looking for. Be aware that you may be missing dependencies later on, depending on what you want to set up. XFCE is á smaller environment ánd doesnt require quité as many packagés as something Iike GNOME or PIasma, but it wiIl still take á few minutes tó install. A display managér is responsible fór the login scréen you drop ónto after starting yóur computer. Most distributions páir it with XFCE because its Iightweight and isnt tiéd to any oné desktop environment. The LightDM login window should be the first thing that you see. Arch wont changé settings or cónfigurations on you, só this setup wiIl remain in pIace until you changé something.
